and Director of Student Success Services
Dr. Bob Mattox is the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and the Director of Student Success Services. Bob has been with Kennesaw State University since 1990. He started at KSU as the Director of Counseling and Testing and was promoted to Director of Counseling, Advising Program, and Orientation Services in 1995. Prior to KSU, Bob was an Assistant Professor for Counseling and Rehabilitation Services at Emporia State University and a Coordinator
of Student Services at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Here at KSU, under Bob’s guidance the following areas were developed and added to Student Success Services: Student Athlete Success Services, Center for Young Adult Addiction & Recovery, Veterans Resource Center, Behavioral Response Program, and the Women’s Resource & Interpersonal Violence Prevention Center. For 15 years Bob was the co- advisor and the advisor for the Golden Key International Honor Society. He was the advisor when Golden Key won the prestigious Founder Award for the best Chapter in the world.
Bob is the Co-Founder of the American College Counseling Association and the Georgia College Counseling Association. He also served as the President of both Associations. He has over thirty published manuscripts in professional journals and books including a chapter in the book “In College Counseling: Issues and Strategies for a New Millennium”. He is the recipient of professional leadership awards from national and international organizations for his work in counseling and advising from the National Academic Advising Association and The American College Counseling Association. He has served on the editorial board for the National Academic Advising Journal and the Journal of Counseling and Development.
Bob is a native of Tennessee. He attended Middle Tennessee State University and received his Master’s and Doctorate from Texas A&M University- Commerce. Bob is a veteran of the United States Army. Bob enjoys reading, traveling, cycling and motorcycling.
